Fostering Collective Resilience Through Scholarly Solidarity
Dear Colleagues and Partners in Primary Care,
I am pleased to welcome you to the WONCA EMR Conference 2026, themed “Solidarity in Primary Care: Bridging Innovation and Humanism for a Resilient Eastern Mediterranean.”
Our region faces significant challenges. Rising noncommunicable diseases, ongoing conflicts, displacement, and social instability are straining our health systems. In this environment, family physicians act as caregivers, protectors of families, defenders of community health, and pillars of national resilience.
Primary care stands at the forefront of stability, prevention, and hope. Every clinic, consultation, and preventive measure strengthens our societies and shapes our nation’s future.
This conference calls for unity and action. Together, we envision a future where primary care thrives as the foundation of resilient communities, ensuring health and well-being for all in the Eastern Mediterranean. By sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and upholding our values, we can strengthen primary care, address chronic disease, and keep health as our top priority, even in challenging times.
Our responsibility is significant, but our collective strength is greater.
Clinicians, researchers, educators, policymakers, and trainees from the region and beyond are invited to participate, submit their work, share experiences, and help shape a stronger, more equitable future for primary care in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
With determination and solidarity,
Prof Dr Faisal Abdullatif Alnaser
President, WONCA EMR
